Nimi <> DXdao ENS and Clarifications

This proposals aims to address some of the concerns and issues highlighted among community members. The main concern appears to be the lack of clarity in the original incubation proposal passed on-chain.

Given the lack of clarity in the proposal, there appear to be misaligned expectations on both sides of the deal. On the one hand, the Nimi team thought an incubation was a much more hands-on type of investment in a product with support rather than simply a seed investment which provides capital only. While on the other hand the lack of clarity makes it cumbersome for the community to assess the deal, progress and how much resources DXdao should allocate to Nimi.

Below are some questions (anonymous poll) to gauge community sentiment around the current Nimi incubation arrangement.

Should DXdao return Nimi.eth to the Nimi MS?
Note: that the Nimi.eth ENS was purchased by a former Nimi hackathon participant, who was refunded for the cost by the Nimi MS (comprised of the hackathon prize) - yet decided to transfer the ENS to DXdao rather than to the Nimi MS.

If I’m reading between the lines, this would nullify the deal completely?

I’m definitely not for nullifying the deal to negotiate a new deal. You can’t can’t go back in time to August and try to renegotiate. You can’t relive the last 2.5 months.

That proposal was an agreement between DXdao and Nimi. DXdao plans to live up to its end of the deal - as I hope Nimi does. If Nimi has complaints that DXdao has not lived up to the deal, then we should try to resolve them, but the first step is not nullification.

What exactly is the Nimi team proposing besides nullifying the deal?

I was a participant on the Nimi hackathon team, and initially registered the domain for the hackathon team. I then sent it to DXdao, because that’s where I believe it belongs. The Nimi hackathon team was completely comprised of full time DXdao contributors. They were not participating in the hackathon as part of their contributor obligations, but all of their trip expenses to Amsterdam were covered by DXdao. Since there was no clarity at the time as to what considerations DXdao would receive in the formation of a Nimi project/company, the only sensible thing for me to do was to send it to DXdao until this could get figured out.

I thought the Nimi Incubation Grant was a good step forward and would assume that if Nimi is successful in taking flight and leaving the DXdao nest, then at that point the domain could be transferred to the Nimi entity.

This post is bizarre. As Chris has pointed out, it seems to imply Nimi reneging on its deal with DXdao, but without explicitly stating that or explaining exactly what the plan would be. It’s rather unprofessional and my recommendation to the Nimi team would be to remove this post and work out a forward looking plan with DXdao.
