DXdao Refunds Round #0
Hola a todos, we have been talking for weeks about the easiest way to start paying back gas costs on governance actions. The gas prices have been very high in the past months and DXdao members has to spend crazy amounts of ETH in governance actions, a proposal creation now cost more than 20usd and voting gas cost can go all the way up to 10usd in ETH.
With the developer team we decided that the easiest and quickest way to return the gas spent is to get the gas spent by accounts on proposal creation, votes and staking and return a % of it from a smart contract.
@nico wrote scripts to fetch all the gas costs per accounts between certain blocks and calculate the refund to each of them using a refund percentage for each action.

I wrote a smart contract that is created with the list of the accounts and values in ETH to be returned.
I executed the dxdao-gas-reimbursement with the following parameters in the .env file:

This will get all the gas spendings in vote, proposals and staking form dxdao genesis block to block 10720000, and it will calculate the refunds to be a 75% of the gas spent.

Whats Next
A proposal will be created this week to send ETH to a verified ETHRefund smart contract with the refunds shared above. Once deployed the accounts will have to call the claim function on it by putting their account index, this function is very low cost, they will have three months to claim their funds and after that the contract will be destroyed and the unclaimed ether will go back to DXdao.
We will see how the refund experience develops and we will most likely repeat it again in few months.
The next refund should aim to cover a higher percentage of gas costs, we use the 75% now because we felt that is an acceptable amount of the use of funds and it is not a lot of ETH.
