DXdao Governance: Identifying Issues and Initiatives Towards Solving

DXdao is a fluid collective with many moving parts and information coming in, moving around and going out in many different channels. It can be a hefty task keeping up with all of the conversations and information.

DXdao is always working to improve its governance model. To frame things, DXdao has working Governance 1.0, Governance 1.x is in motion, and Governance 2.0 will come. It’s a process.

Key issues have been identified. There are many initiatives that the DXdao community is already doing to help work towards solving these issues.

At the same time, many people are contributing from many different angles - discussing, giving opinions of and trying to solve DXdao’s current issues.

Unless people are aware of everything going on, productive conversations are harder to have.

The goal of this post is to get everyone on the same page, and to make it easier for everyone to be aware of the current initiatives that are ongoing to address each of these issues in a single place.

Once this is clearly outlined, it becomes easier to discuss, alter and add more initiatives to improve DXdao Governance.

This is great, Sky. It’s nice to have all of these links together in one place.

I categorized these initiatives into different governance work streams, so that we can work on short, medium long-term fixes concurrently. To define the categories again:

  • Governance 1.0 - the ongoing work of governing DXdao. Reaching consensus and passing proposals within the existing governance framework
  • Governance 1.x - Changes to the existing governance framework that can be implemented in the medium term
  • Governance 2.0 - Fundamental changes to DXdao governance that would necessitate migration to new governance infrastructure. Such action would require substantial research and feedback with the community before any technical work is begun.

I used the list that Sky presented and consolidated them down and classified the initiatives into the three categories.

Governance 1.0

  • Community REP boosts
  • Worker Compensation Guidelines
  • Governance as a Service
  • Gas Refunds for voting & governance
  • Budget

Governance 1.X

  • REP voting for DXD ERC20 Guild
  • Cheaper Voting/Signalling
  • Treasury management
  • Alchemy Improvements
  • DXD Lock for REP scheme

Governance 2.0

  • Bonding Curve
  • DXD-REP long-term alignment
  • Cross-chain world
  • Decentralized Sovereign Tools

There is also information on latest updates, current obstacles, external links and more in the spreadsheet

I think something like this could give that high level overview (Governance at a Glance?) that @nylon and others suggested, giving anyone an easy place to see status of current discussion.

Thoughts? Did I miss anything?
